I KNEW my bicycle made me like one of the Founding Fathers 😎

Only problem is the frame came from Taiwan, and the tires from Germany, not sure about the rest, China prob’ly, all delivered by fossil fuel slaves.

Nothing gets a fire going like a tire. Which reminds me, I have a pile of brush and few tires.

Same can be said for property. You only rent it from the government. Try not paying property taxes and see what happens. I think the problem is government not private ownership of vehicles, tires and property. Let's roll back government.

Nobody is arguing against property rights here. The problem isn't private ownership, it's a total dearth of alternatives. The very reason the state can dictate everything about the terms of your mobility, is because you have no other choice. Others have already pointed out the absurdity of the alternatives: walking, a horse, you might as well have a pogo-stick.

If you even contemplate viable alternatives, you've been conditioned to conclude those alternatives are the enemy of your "freedom." It's not alternative modes of transportation that create statist oppression, but the lack of alternatives, the lack of choice. Although I don't consider BEVs to be a real alternative, consider that as they become viable, it will require a government expansion with a new per-mile tax just to maintain the current level of tax burden. Resisting expansion has proven to be more effective than "rolling back" government power. Now, think if we had a real alternative to individually-taxed, licensed, and registered motor vehicles. Nobody would be prohibited from choosing to use one, but if the state considered increasing the tax burden on them, including the fuel price, it would have to calculate the consequent losses from people choosing an available alternative.

The left isn't advocating for real transportation alternatives. They know alternatives weaken state power. The opportunity for the right is there, but it's refusing to take it even though it is the opportunity to champion a greater cause for the environment, for climate, for health -- beating the left on their own turf, making them look like hypocrits and compromisers -- while simultaneously improving the economy, reducing traffic and the demand for urban sprawl, protecting game habitat, increasing individual freedom, and restricting government over-reach by creating transportation options. Even if you don't want to use the alternatives yourself because you love your eighty-thousand dollar pickup with the power seats and [bleep] Apple car play and tanks full that made some Arab's payment on his Lambo in Dubai, consider the benefits of having a choice. If you don't, you'll continue to compete for fuel and space and their urban sprawl will be coming to you.

Conservatives should not love the state's monopoly on transportation, but that's exactly what they do. They adore it, and their Toyota trucks and fuel taxes, Arab profits, licenses, registrations, and insurance schemes and uniformed tax-collectors.

Go live in New Yawk or Schidtcago.
With a little effort you can find a living/earning s situation with
No car needed.

But, it seems you are pushing against traditional earning/purchasing
economies. So, go to the Left Coast, live in a box, and get your
necessities working your in-box Glory Hole.

No commute.

You don't get it do you? The urbanites with their BEV's are coming to where you are, like it or not. This isn't about making Rural PA like New York, but preventing that. By clinging to a one-option state-controlled transportation system, you're ensuring the mandates and taxes will happen and when they do, you'll have no choice, no where else to go. You've probably figured that you'll just hold out until you're too old to drive anyway and then it won't be your problem.

According to this the Biden administration is mandating an EV charging station every 50 miles along Federal highways.

I doubt the one my wife has on order will be here any time soon but as it stands she already has plenty of charge for the thing.

Every study and every poll you see reported is being paid for by someone, and that someone is expecting something for their money. I don’t trust any of them, especially when the money trail isn’t revealed along with the data, no matter how fancy the presentation or impressive the website of the publisher. These jokers didn’t just crank this out out of the goodness of their hearts; there’s an agenda. The opposing forces in this world are heavily financed, and it’s no great trick, given enough money, to get any result you want, or to make it look real. Get a fable written, get it into some media, and it’s on its way to becoming β€œfact”, with the help of useful idiots that agree with the message.

Years ago I pondered when the econuts would get around to tire wear particles as a pollutant.

You can bet yer bottom dollar the tax/fee happy politicians will be looking to enact a tire particle pollution surcharge to extract money from yer wallet.

And here it begins.

Freedom requires a means of transportation that's authorized without authentication. Requirements for an automobile driver's license, registration, and license plate are demands a person authenticate before they are authorized to go anywhere. Even a subway token or cash payment for bus fare grants authorization without authentication. That could all change with new demands for ID and a vaccine and social-credit passport to be authorized to go anywhere by any means, but those demands would be new. The fact remains you can go almost anywhere by any means other than driving a motor vehicle or boarding a commercial flight without identifying. If you want to drive, you must submit to licensing, provide ID upon demand without cause, and display big ID number plates at all times like a prisoner or you will be in violation of criminal code and subject to arrest.

The shocking thing is that right-wing conservatives view any alternative to this system as the product of leftist ideology. The bus, train, subway, bicycles, ferries, even pedestrianism are all seen by the right as socialist schemes. It's like some kind of Stockholm syndrome.
