I am loading this Hornady 130 interlocks in my 26” barreled 270 win, pushing them about 3140 fps. Anyone deer hunting with this bullet, at similar speeds? Just wondering if this bullet will hold together on a whitetail at 50 yards, in the case of a close up shot. Thanks for any observed feedback on how this bullet performs at these velocities.

Using the same bullet at 3100fps out of a 22” Tikka. In my experience, these do great from 25-360yds. We’ve never caught a bullet. Expansion was great as were blood trails. Count me a huge fan.

Can’t say I ever hit quite that velocity but have killed pigs under 30yd many times. Can’t think of a blowup.

I have killed a bunch of deer with Interlocks but never hit one with that much velocity.. Interlock performance has been excellent from 30yds to 150yds muzzle velocity has been closer to 2850 fps though....Good hunting...Hb

Can be pretty destructive but never a problem getting the job done. I usually load two levels, tops speeds for Mule deer and Antelope, 2800 fps for Whitetails.

Have had good results using 130 gr bullets in my Model 70 270. Using both Partitions and Hornady Interlocks.

My load was 54.0 gr of IMR 4350. 1.0 grain below max in my old manual.

Both chronographed just over 3000 fps. Consistently small groups when i did my part.

Did real well on Minn whitetails. No shots longer than ~90 yards. Never did find a spent bullet in the deer.
