It's Friday morning and I need to be working around the place, before it gets too hot. 30 min. ago, I was bush hogging and got too close to a bee hive and one popped me between the eyes. The left eye about 1/2 swollen shut and I've got a headache. Think I'll just call it a day and try again tomorrow.

Red wasps are my least favorite stinging insect, although those little black and white ground-nesting bumblebees run a close second. I moved a 12 foot flat bottom fishing boat that had been stored upside down behind my barn during a bush hogging session and the ground was pockmarked with the perfect shape of the boat with their nest holes, hundreds of them. It looked like smoke rising from the ground as the defenders of their hive took wing. I abandoned the still-running tractor and hauled azz away from the area without getting stung, and didn't return until after dark when the activity had died down. Those holes got filled with 5 gallons of gasoline and the problem went away.

Swelling and headache are symptoms of a hyper allergic reaction. Next sting could cause anaphylaxis or not.

I was trimming some bushes out in front of the house, 3 wasps came out and stung me on the arm. My ex took some Adolph's Meat Tenderizer, put some in her hand, added a little water so its like a paste and put it on where I was stung. No more pain, stinger removed. I keep a bottle of it in my truck and one in the house.

I got bee hives and get stung often. One would think that I'd be immune by now, but I'm not. I'll have some swelling, where I got stung, and that's about it. Getting stung on the head is always worse, so I'll take it easy. I found that putting Silverdine on and around the sting site, it will reduce the swelling faster than any other thing I've tried. In a couple hours, it will be back to normal, or should be.

Isn't the newest treatment/remedy to hit yourself with a stun gun? Please post a video.

Thanks

If you do think anaphylaxis don't bother with EMT help, they don't have EpiPens. They do have Narcan kits though.

A wasp got me on top of my head as I walked under the roof of my chicken enclosure (which extends considerably beyond the enclosure itself) last year. SOBs! Hurt when stung, and for some hours after, but no great reaction other than the pain at the sting site.

Good thing it weren't no Murder Hornet.

You'd have never made it to the Campfire page to tell us about it.
