My wife was a respiratory therapist for 30 years. Part of her duties was setting up and maintaining ventilators. One family insisted on keeping a terminally ill relative on a vent long after there was no hope of recovery, to the point his legs had turned black from the knees down. Late one night after visiting hours his doctor commented "This ventilator is filthy- - - -take it to your lab and give it a good cleaning- - - -I expect that it should take at least an hour to do it properly. DO NOT argue!" Mission accomplished!

The decision has been made to disable his ICD and pacemaker. I'm wondering how long after that it might take for him to die.

And no, I am not upset, just curious.
Except for the pacemaker, a family member of mine went through that.
I demanded fluids, as much as possible. Got him off the drugs.
Once the toxins were flushed out, his mind returned and organs responded with hydration and the grace of God.
He lived many more years with good health.
I hope and pray the same for your Dad. Regardless whatever his outcome, may he and your family receive grace.

Couple years ago went to see a buddy in hospice. Crazy hospice place had the building set up like a hazmat site. Everything wrapped in plastic, hallways turned into plastic tubes, doorways with zippers to access, blowers keeping positive pressure......Had to scrub and suit up, gloves, foot covers, all the schit.

All to keep the dying from getting Covid🤔

Watched my uncle and my dad die.
Both were in bad shape, non communicating and took a couple of weeks to die ( when told it could be a couple days ).

They lost a middle brother as teens and it put the funk on their heads about death.

Thibk that why it took em a while to leave.

It is normal for those being left behind, to want the hassle, the upset, the whatever......to be over and done with

Wifes grandfather was in coma for 2 months. He was a lawyer so proly afraid to meet his maker LOL

No kidding.

I'm planning to go for a long walk "on the tundra" (the woods or desert in my case) with no supplies.

Assuming I have enough of a mind to do so.

May the 'yotes and vultures feed well.

One of life's very saddest experiences. We lost our mother last year under similar circumstances.

Take care, Armednfree.

Grammar is important.
Capitol letters are the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" & "helping your uncle jack off a horse".

My Doctor is The Great Physician.
I answer to Him, Not to some stranger who could care less about my family. That's MY responsibility. I sought God's guidance as He provided good information and advisors. Trash like the NVHntrBiden have no problem trusting and turning family over to the Dr Jack Kevorkians.
