I thought I was the only one that did "improved" cases like that.

A long, long, long time ago, I made some 30-06 loads that looked a lot like that.

great!, now even weatherby brass is made in china....
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Looks to me like either the brass is a little soft, the bullet too large for the neck or else the brass wasn't expanded and the bullet crushed the whole shebang.

What's the purpose? Messed up a perfectly good cartridge.

Steely, What are you planning on shooting through your "new baby?" I assume TSX, but what weight are you leaning towards? (The reason I ask is I have an interest in trying the TSX in my 300RUM)-which should be fairly close to your Roy.

Got them loaded up with 180gr TSX. Didn't seem to have much problem ringing steel at 550 yards the other day. Got the new trigger in it today and the McMillan ordered....

I ran into a guy from Homer that hunted with a cartridge that looked nearly identical to that back in 1994. This was before the advent of the 30-378 era and portable range finders.
The need for extreme speed was mitigated to a large extent by the availability of good, light laser rangefinders- now we can figure our clicks ahead of time, range it, dial it and kill it. No need to push 120 grainers at 4300 out of a 30 cal!!!
That thing will probably shoot lights out!
