Wife bought 2 A5 Wagyu NY steaks to cook for dinner. Never cooked it before. Skillet, salt/pepper seems to be the go to method.

Any guidance/suggestions? This isn’t my normal cup’o tea.

I'd use a skillet and not go above rare with a hard sear on both sides.

I'd recommend watching some YouTube videos of Japanese chefs preparing A5 Wagyu.

Enjoy!

Videos indicate either hot grill or hot skillet, with nothing more than S&P

Make sure your grill has a cold side for a rescue area.

Plenty of boobtoob vids on the subject.

Per my very limited tasting experience, provided by other benefactors, if this is your first time then skip the BBQ grill and go straight to pan searing. A good salt and no pepper.

At a $120lb if you need more than salt you got robbed. Pun intended.

When you become a Millionaire Gangsta Rapper you can slap dat chit on the coals, slather in Sweet Baby Ray's to go with your colossal shrimp and Crystal.

I’ve only ever cooked them on a grill, but if you’re an experience pan sear guy, have at it. And yeah, don’t over-season and rare or blue.
