I've handled a couple in stores and been tempted.
More tempted by the liner lock folder in your provided link...

I have the S1 Forest knife. Comes in handy for camping preparing food or batonning wood starting campfires. They have a laminated steel in them a hard edge steel sandwiched between two softer tougher steels. They are pretty much indestuctable imo. You can drive them in to a tree and stand on them. Cut cinder blocks etc, you would have to really be trying to wreck one.

I do not own one, but have almost pulled the trigger on their "Gentleman's Pocket Folder."

The next time KnivesShipFree has a special on 'em, I may snag one.

I do like that Desert Ironwood model.

I know one of my boys will end up with it among other nice things I own. I’m a buy once cry once type. I have some other nice knives like Benchmade, Spiderco, Bark River, Kabar, Buck maybe a dozen for different jobs. The S1 has gutted and butchered a few deer. It works I have others that work better.

My favorite knife for everthing is a Kephart style 4” blade. The shorter one great deer gutter and great in the kitchen. Wifey loves it to. Bought it at a gun show from the guy who made it and the sheath. $50 D2 carbon steel, ha my favorite knife. I tried to buy another one unfortunately I can’t find the guy who made it. One town over and I didn’t remember his name and he looked to be in tough shape at the time. Afraid time got him.

I have a 2004 F1/3G with 3.8" SGPS/VG2 laminate blade, 1 of 110 made marked “test”, with Thermorun handle. We had been asked to evaluate the laminate by Peter Hjortberger of Fallkniven. It has performed very well over the years. Only nit was a kydex sheath I had made that got some grit inside that scratched the blade surface. Went back to the factory leather sheath after that.

The F1 is a great all around blade.

Elmax is good steel, I've got 3G, VG10, one other type I'd have to look at. RC62 in that stainless will hold an edge for a long time but you'll need to spend more time sharpening it if you let it get dull. Good knives, very good workmanship.

I've had the A2 on my "wish list" for a few years, mostly so I can find it again without looking thru the whole lineup. I admire it, but I don't have an extra $375 for a knife that I actually have no need for. But it looks good!

I have a couple - good knives. The H1 Hunter is the first one I bought - have only used it on 1 deer but was still shaving sharp after splitting the sternum with it.

I’ve got a couple f1’s.

The first i bought maybe 20 years ago.

Other one the Bark River knives version.

Micarta scales and convex ground. I wanna say it’s the laminate blade also.

I have had a few over the years, and have settled on a F1 CoS as a general duties knife. The S1 was a little large, and the R2 too small.

I don't use it to dress out deer, but it could if I had nothing else.

I do like the PHKz hunting knife. The curves seem to be very useful, but I just don't need another hunting knife.

As for ELMAX steel, my main skinning field butchering knife is a Brisa Trapper in Elmax. I like hard, sharp knives for meat work and this knife really does the job well. Elmax is held to be slightly better than S35VN and having used both (in different knives) I can see that comparison. It probably comes down to the heat treatment.

My hunting partner prefers the classic butchers knife but late last year field butchering 3 deer on one day he saw my Elmax blade still razor sharp, but his butchers knife was dull and becoming dangerous. He just bought a Benchmade Steep Country S30V and I don't think he will be going back to the cheaper blade.

Adamjp nailed it. I like Elmax a great deal, fantastic edge retention. It'll take longer to sharpen because it's harder but it's a great steel.
