Chandler lake Camps, they will take care of you.

And be aware that though forums can be helpful. There are lots of folks who offer opinions, without facts. I live in zone 3, I bird hunt in zone 2. Beautiful area, but moose are more plentiful in the northern part of that zone. DIY is a possibility with good logistics.
You will road hunt, spot and stalk. If you DIY it's a camping trip with lots of riding around. Bring fuel and spare tires, sidewall cuts are common. Your vehicle needs to be well maintained. GPS can be unreliable, And cell phones may work from some hilltops. Get a Delorme Gazeteer. Safety is very important in the big woods, there is no helicopter rescue. MRS Radio is a good idea, the logging trucks literally owner the roads.

And an FYI, there are no bars, or restaurants and skidders are no longer used.

I’ve been drawn once and my wife was drawn last year. I used a guide service both times. It’s worth the cost IMO. There aren’t as many moose around these days due to ticks. It used to be easy to drive around and shoot one near the road. Not so much these days. Good luck!

What's the terrain like up there? In regard to shot distance. I've always thought it to be very thick and a 150 yard shot would be a long one.

Ranges from large cuts to very thick. Most of the moose I saw were in 8-10 year old cuts or in wet areas. In many places you could certainly shoot more than 150 yards. In others,150 inches would be long range.

Congratulations on the draw and good luck. You have more than enough gun for those "little" moose down there. smile. Moose die easily usually - they may take awhile tho.

Good shot placement is essential - in heavy escape cover and within 100 yards, I prefer a cns shot. With a double lunger - they can go up to 200 yards, usually less. In the terraine I've hunted, I have several times been within a step or two of the downed animal before finding it.

They will be in rut, and calling is fun when they come in. The meat may not be too good tho. BTDT. I'd prefer an antlerless moose in that time frame, but what you have is what you have .

Have a grand time. Post us some pics.

Get ONX Hunt and plan your off-line maps carefully. Plus, according to my ME hunter friend, have 10 ply tires, or at least lots of them. He had 4 shredded on his Tahoe and was forced to get towed home!

I intend to post a little more about the trip soon.. but to not leave people hanging - we got it done at 7:01 on Monday morning (season opener)! 35” bull. What a thrilling trip. Lots of hard work, lots of feedback, and some luck got us in the right place first thing.

Congratulations 17. I'm disappointed that we didn't have more time to talk yesterday, but we will catch up. Nice bull BTW.
