I know we have people here who take their relaxation cocktails/drinks serious. Wondering if you had anything you feel is a "must have" in a home bar? I don't mean booze - that's super individual but equipment.
I'm kicking around the idea of a counter top ice maker, no waterline but reservoir and hopefully a filter. Something that makes "the good ice" - not huge cubes like my freezer with the trays. Would be for use in tiki/tropical drinks that the GF tends to like (I'm a beer predominantly person)
If you are building a bar, a mini-fridge is mucho handy. Holds your mixers, limes, makes ice, and even holds a few beers.
Other gear includes the standards like mixing glass, bar spoon, lime juicer, bottle opener, small cutting board with knife, cocktail shaker, strainer, and a decent book of cocktail recipes.
I keep all my stuff in a cabinet in the kitchen. Not really building a bar but if I won the lottery, I'd build something like The Headhunter Tiki bar in San Diego. (I'm a huge fan of Tiki/polynesian pop and mid-century pop)
I was just making ice this weekend and it's kinda pain in the arse in the freezer. Started to look at nugget ice makers - wondering if there's other things I need. Maybe a drunk mixer? One of those old school deals with the Egg head you stick the shaker into?
I finished off my basement in California many years ago that included a large walk behind wet bar. I installed a U-Line mini-fridge with ice maker that worked very well.
Utah's DUI laws being so strict, we rarely imbibe anywhere but at home. We have a roll-around bar that has a bottle well, drawers, and glasses storage below.
For all your bar needs, check this WEBSITE They even carry my favorite line of bitters, Fee Brothers. Their Old Fashioned and Orange bitters are always in my bar.
I'm thinking I'm going to need a few claymore mines to keep my "alcohol enthusiast" son in law out of the booze supply. Locking the cabinet door is only successful intermittently.
I don't have one of these, but a friend does and he raves about it.
I'd have to do a side by side challenge before I'd pony for that! Looks cool tho.
I think first thing is one of those ice machines and go from there. Have a blender that would puree a brick. My mother got it for me from some restaurant supply place as a house warming gift. You basically need ear protection but she's got some torque.
