When I was a kid we were told that it was amazing that the world's total popular was getting ready to reach four billion. At that time, Africa's total population was under three-hundred million.

And no means to feed them all.

This is where all the product of Gates' farm land he's bought up will be sent.

Unfûcking real. At least in China they can eat rice and cats/dogs/bats. The clicks and whistles gang will literally starve without outside aid.

Depressing.

What will this mean for hunting in Africa? I've never been hunting there but enjoy reading about hunting there and especially hunter shooting Cape Buffalo.

Population of US and Canada will remain stabile only thru immigration. Even Mexicos birth rate has slowed to replacement.

A long time custom in many African countries is coming to a head. When a farmer dies, his land is divided between his sons. Obviously, each son gets less land than Dad had and large families exaggerate the problem . Over time, many farms are now down to under 5 acres. That will barely sustain 1 small family. The next generation is in real trouble. A tiny farm like that can't pay for new equipment so hand labor is the only way they can work the ground. It will only feed the family, there's nothing left to sell. That also means that the city people have nothing available to buy.

Add that to the biggest problem of over breeding.

Africa has 60% of the worlds cultivatable land with only a fraction of it being used. Africa could be the world's leader in ag products, but when you have children running governments, the superpowers exploiting them, and a workforce best described as lazy there ain't much hope the trend will reverse itself anytime soon.

What will be entertaining to watch unfold is for a couple of billion Africans suddenly deciding they want cars and electricity. So much for curbing global green house gas emissions. I suppose the northern hemisphere can tell the southern hemisphere to pound sand.

Here is an example of what has happened to Africa....Zimbabwe to be exact. When they ran the white man out, they gave the land back to the blacks. That was the end of modern farming and the economy it supported. Now its all subsistence gardens, and government handouts.

This area use to be known as the bread basket of Africa. Corn, sugar cane, tobacco, beef, pretty much everything. Gone.

Here is a small example of what's left. The rectangles you see are old fields, from those days of plenty. Zoom in closer and see how the bush is taking it back over. Everything that was left, is in ruins. Reminders of what a great place it must of been, are crumbling everywhere......huge silos, old manufacturing plants, plantations, train rails.....all destroyed. Nobody working. Just sitting around their huts (the walls of the huts are made from the bricks of the silos, they tore down), waiting on the next handout....and making babies.

I saw this first hand....it was explained to me by veterans of the bush war......the "losers" of that war.
