They won't reveal who detained him and that will make it worse. They can cover this up only so long. They cannot change what happened and the coverup is making it worse. It is unfathomable that the situation keeps going so bad the more that comes out. Clinton/Lewinski, Pedophile Priests, Jerry Sandusky. The cover up is always worse than the original issue. Human nature, seems inclined to hide or lie. Not be honest. Often dragging the lies into the issue when they were not involved until the coverup. PS. Worse in the context of public relations and the damage to whatever organization as a whole. The lie becomes the issue, overshadowing the original crime.

They want to take peoples guns. When you say "they" I don't believe it would include the incompetent and/or cowardly officers holding back. I don't believe they are standing in the hall thinking if just a few more children die then we will be able to take everyone's guns. I know there are a few very evil people in the world that would sacrifice children for their means, but I don't believe it is as widespread as you are suggesting. I do believe they want to take our guns independently of heinous acts like this. Beto has said such, but he and others use any incident as a convenient excuse.

It wasn't a conspiracy.
Let's look for the simplest explanation. Uvalde has a school police force, six cops ruled by Chief Arredondo.
Who wants to be a school cop, but some Barney Fife wanting to put in his 30 years and get that good pension.
Knowing that the biggest problem they are likely to face is a 14 year old girl with 4 Percocet in her purse. "Put your hands behind your back, Maria, I am taking you to Juvie Lockup!" What an enforcer of law the school cop was on that day!
On a really big day, they catch a 16 year old punk, selling 3 ounces of pot out of his car in the school parking lot. A felony!
School cops will hardly draw "the Best and the Brightest" cops in the first place and obviously, Chief Arredondo is an incompetent , fat slug looking to put in his 30 years and then grab that fat pension. We have, what, 10,000 schools in America? And a school shooting, once every 3 years? The chance of a school cop having to deal with a school shooting is one in a million.
To explain this tragedy, let us look for incompetence, stupidity, and cowardice. Sums up my experience while dealing with one of our SRO's

Highway 90 starts going through the Medina Valley right at 1604 and Lackland’s “Medina Base” and you could call anything west or south of it “the valley”. https://www.mvisd.com/If the Border Patrol puts check points up and crops are grown, I call it “The Valley” regardless. I will say there ain’t a damn thing I wanna see on 90 from 1604 in San Antonio to Van Horn except more Border Patrol ! I have no appreciation for the Big Bend region either, might as well drive to Lincoln County New Mexico for the Sacramento Mountains.

I lived on NW Crossroads off 16. Was a decent area for what I had to do while living there. Course they moved my duty station once I left and it would have been REALLY primo then, bout 2 blocks away.

The whole place (helotes) sucks now because of population influx and dummies doing road work to make things smoother but makes it worse.
It takes about 25 minutes to go from Scenic Loop/16 to HEB at 1604/16 because of traffic lights and funky intersections. Thats about 3 miles !
