I haven't been able to find RL 26 since before the Kung Flu.

I haven't been able to find RL 26 since before the Kung Flu. Me neither, had to switch to Magnum for my 6.5 PRC. Works OK, but…

Even if I do find the components I need, I can't afford it! This is nuts!
I started reloading when:
A flat of 100 primers was 99 cents. Powder was $3 to $4 a pound. A LOT of people used "Lee Loaders". Sierra bullets came in cardboard boxes with 101 bullets. A box of those bullets was +/- $4. Most boxes of bullets had 100 in it. People who poured, resized and lubed their own bullets were pretty common. Most tire shops would gladly give you a few pounds of wheel weights just to get rid of them.
In the early 60's, most of the local gun stores didn't carry reloading supplies. Most people ordered components from a catalogue.

Ive been lucky. H4350, h4831, h1000, h335 and 8208xbr.....all 8#er's all in the last few months. I traded 2lbs of h1000 for 8 of h4831sc.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Gunbroker is currently having a “sale” on Reloder 26. $350 for 1lb. $635 for 4lbs. No they’re not typos

I bought 15 a few months ago at my LGS. They have regularly had it and 16 and 26. The Retumbo was for a South Texas member.

I bought a couple pounds of RL15 & RL26 a month ago. I could’ve bought more but I didn’t want to be “that guy” so a couple pounds of each was good enough for me for that trip. It’s been available here and there. Another shop in the area got a couple pallets in a couple months back so I got another 8 or 10 pounds of various powders like 17 & 19, 4831sc, etc. I think it’s slowly starting to come around. 👍

I just recently started loading for two different 280AI's, so I really wanted to use RL22, 23 or preferably, 26.
I've been watching midway, natches, midsouth, PV, etc routinely and havent seen a can of any of those.
thankfully, I've been able to source some 7828, H1000, and already had 4831 and 4350 to work with.
while I'm reasonably happy with the groups those powders have yielded, I would have liked to have played with 26.
I believe the ammo side of the house is getting first dibs on any Reloder powders that are produced. I see IMR and Hodge powders routinely, but never any of the commonly used Alliant stuff anymore.

Ok I’m my opinion
I know everyone has a pet powder for a certain caliber and I get that
But with the current state of availability Shouldn’t you look at other options? I understand everyone wants the best accuracy and best velocity, but isnt an 1” group or even a 2” group at 200 yards still good enough for humane kills? I hate stick powder but if that was all available I’d use it Just my 2 cents
We might have to be neighbors, but I don’t have to be neighborly. John Chisum

Bought an 8# jug of RL 16 at Sportsman's Warehouse early this year. $289. Couldn't believe my eyes it was on the shelf - grabbed it up and am set for a good long time. Have picked up a couple pounds of IMR4064 for the 30-06 and some H110 last weekend at Scheels for $29.99 each. It shows up occasionally, when you see it grab it.
