Found a good deal online on a first truck for my son. Sounded too good to be true. Of course there were cordial emails, my husband died and it's been garage kept. Blah blah blah. Most I gave was my name, address and phone number. I hope nothing can be done with that info. My bud found the same truck at three different states in about 30 seconds of looking. Of course I wasn't going to give any bank info or send money but still feel taken. Especially my son. Sobs!
I'd love to catch one of these people in person......

I just bought a first car for my youngest daughter. It absolutely sucks trying to find anything decent right now. Due to the shortage of new vehicles and the insane prices of used cars, it's like everyone has decided to dump their worn-out junk into the market. It's incredible what folks/dealerships are asking, and there are a ton of scams out there. It took me about 6-months of keeping an eye out before I found something I felt good about putting my daughter in.

I'd not give name/address/phone number. Why does the seller need your address?
Those 3 things are easy cross reference points for other inquiries into your identity. Address - you just gave the billing zipcode for your credit card, along with your name.

Scams suck. But I am very curious why give someone selling a vehicle online your name, where your valuables are kept, and your phone number.
