Who’s running it? What kind of speeds are you getting?
I just received the email they’re shipping my equipment for the he cabin in NM. I’ll be there in a couple weeks doing maintenance and installing the equipment hopefully.

Every single person I have seen with it is getting great download speeds, like 100-180 MBPS. Trees must be clear of the dish's view of the sky.
We are waiting for more availabilty in our area. It is there, but they are at capacity.

We've been getting 80 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up pretty reliably. It was a bit slower when we were in Zion, but a bit faster in Yosemite.
Ping times are excellent. I don't think I've seen anything over 20ms the dozen or so times I have checked it.

Still on the waiting list for NE WI along Lake Michigan. It really is a "dead" zone electronically there. But, that is also one of the attractions for me at our place, it is isolated! Occassionally I'll get an update from them, but nothing in a while.

don’t us ping for delay testing it can be faked out…. Ping your closest service edge - Netflix delay type… or Google server. The issue there of course is they shut down ping as well.. God I miss being on the test teams…

Ok, thanks all. Sounds promising.
I’m half ass trying to talk the wife into moving there, off the grid. She needs good upload speeds for work.

I looked at their current map for Idaho. They now have coverage for most of the rural part of the state but not in any of the larger towns. All the towns are dead spots, "coming soon".

In related news, SpaceX has complained to the FCC that planned mobile phone 5G service outside of major cities may disrupt or even eliminate Starlink service due to frequency interference. Starlink is specifically designed for rural areas, whereas phone 5G was originally said to be intended for urban areas. If 5G expands to wider coverage, there'll be a problem.

What does their service run? Right now we pay $38 a month to a line of sight provider with few issues and it serves our need for the little internet/streaming use we need.

If you have other options, they're likely cheaper. However, Starlink is designed to cover areas where no one else is. In much of the world, it'll be Starlink or nothing.
