Remove existing tub and surround. Install stand up shower with the same footprint as the tub.

Hiring labor, or just materials?
One piece shower walls, or actual tile? Tons of variables

I know what parts should cost, about a grand, so just labor. Simple shot from the basement on plumbing.

You talking about throwing in an acrylic floorpan/walls, or are you doing a custom pan, tile, etc. ??
This could either be a $1500-$2000 job, or a $10,000 job.
Both are only $1000-ish in materials (excluding glass door), but labor is WAY different.

Did my last room in the house the kitchen just over 2 years ago.....moved walls had to add a 3 1/2'x18" laminated beam to replace a wall did it reversed so it cannot be seen ....kitchen was 22'x15' now is 22'x50'.... Me doing all the work didn't pay anybody to help moving 2 sinks, moving gas line, thousands of feet of #12 wire adding 8 new circuit breakers....building all the cabinets new top of the line Miele appliances 8 burner stove separate refrigerator and freezer under the counter 25 lb ice maker.....when I ordered the granite they told me that there was over double the counter space of most kitchens....plus built a table with a granite top storage cabinets under it that seats 12 people and is shaped like a boat.........cost me $60'000....was given a price of $120'000 + to have it done two years ago.....
Now with material price hikes and labor I sure wouldn't want to do the kitchen now bet it would cost to have it done close to $200'000....

Remove existing tub and surround. Install stand up shower with the same footprint as the tub. SHOULD BE... $1k or less in materials and under $2k in labor... COULD BE... a whole lot more... Rot damage? Labor gigging you... LOTS OF VARIABLES.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

Depends on how big of a sucker you are.
Thankfully mrs slumlord tears out and remodels all of the tile and showers around here every few years.
We know a dentist friend that paid $28,000 for a tub and toilet yank, new walk in shower. Pics if it were plain jane straight runs boring white tile. Pfft
Hard to not to laugh, got taken for a fool.
Maybe I’m out of touch having this womern living here that does all of this type stuff for nothin.
There’s a 1500 square ft of tile stacked on the front porch now. Gawd what now. I dont even ask anymore.

I never bid over the phone let alone a vague request on the internet.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe, an Obama phone, free health insurance. and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.

Some unforseen repair is always hidden ^^^ This ^^^ has been my experience, as well... PLUS has taken longer to complete than planned, too.

I gutted my guest bathroom, removed the tub and replaced it with a walk in shower and small closet. New everything except the toilet which was already a nice model. Even moved the vent and added a couple of outlets. Frameless glass shower door and decorative tile. Pre Covid I was all in for less than $3K. Pretty labor intensive with all the tile work and plumbing. Always seems simple to start, then next thing you know your sawzall hits a water line and your dumping water on your new convection microwave downstairs.
