Anyone have a 7 shot GP100?

Any issues with them?

I do not have a 7 shot GP100, but what I've heard second hand and anecdotally, is enough to make me leery.

There's been multiple threads on the Ruger forum about problems with seating some rounds, and binding cylinders. Enough so, even die-hard Ruger guys have said if you need a 7 shot, buy a S&W 686 +.

That said, hey, if I saw the right gun, at the right price, I'd probably take a shot at 'er.

I'd just go on over to the Ruger forum and figure out which ammo/brass/bullets work.

That can happen if one shoots a lot of .38 Spl rounds and don't clean the chambers before shooting .357. Particularly cheap 130 gr fmj range ammo. I'm not sure that's unique to the 7 shot GP100. I've noticed that .357 can fit tight in my 6 shot GP100 and 5 shot SP101 after a box or two of cheap range 38 spl ammo. That ammo is pretty dirty and you can see the crap it leaves in the chambers that a .357 round would have to pass to chamber properly. I've got a 8 shot Redhawk .357 and only shoot .357 and never noticed any clambering or function issues even when I don't clean it for awhile.
Keeping the chambers scrubbed and under the ejector clean would probably solve most of the those issues.

I've read that some ammo brands have wider rims than others, and the wider rims don't play well in the 7-shot GP100. They get jammed up on each other.

Had one with the cartridge jamming issues and Ruger replaced it with a 6-shot.

I’ve not had issues with my 6 or 7 shot
