Daughter leaves for college in August. That’s enough of a lifestyle change for a while.

I don’t know how or why they work but the Tommy Copper slip on knee braces work. Period. I’m talking about being bone on bone in the knee. If I’m outside for a day humping it I double the Tommy Copper with one over the other.

They’ll get you a long ways till surgery/replacement absolutely has to be done. Get them at Walmart in the section with weights equipment. They’re 10-12$.

Good luck, Man.

That's one of the dumbest things you've ever said, and that's saying something. If that Tommy Copper crap actually works as you say, then you aren't "bone on bone" or anywhere near it.

Good job MM, quitting smoking is not easy. I did it almost 15 years ago and have never regretted that decision.

I thought you were a little more cranky than usual....... grin

Since seeing the Orthopedic doc. on the 6th of this month and getting the TKR news, dietary recommendations, etc. my life/health has undergone a change I never thought possible… COPD (bronchitis) is virtually gone… along with the inhaler the doc prescribed, I started spraying a OTC nasal spray up my nose, waiting a half hour, then flushing my sinuses with a concoction of salt/baking soda and warm water…also started taking vitamins and increased my protein intake…since I’ve regained the use of my right knee, I’ve been catching up on things that got put on the back burner and doing a lot of extra walking… the only negative thing has been sore calf muscles. This morning my blood pressure was 112/63… I feel more like 40 instead of 70.

Good on ya MM.
I've lost 7-10# over the past month.

Push mowing 3-4 times a week[about 1.5-2 acre in 3 separate pieces] that for years I had just hopped on a rider and done.

Much more walking and my legs and knees are starting to tell me thanks.

I will be 59 in a couple months and am hoping my knees will hold out for a few more years.

Giving up beer/bourbon is a non starter for me but I have switched over to much lighter IPA's.

A metamorphosis that’ll add many - quality - years to your life.

Well done, MfM.

I cringe at passing this on

Try Wobenzyme, a German suppliment for orthopedic issues.

The tore her meniscus doing some Denise Austin/Jillian Michaels jumping around aerobics horseplay.

Surgeon said it would be an absolute must-do surgery. She elected NO to surgical intervention. Stated taking Wobenzyme that was about 12 years ago. She’s probably hiked many thousands of miles in backcountry trail scrambles and as a daily routine racks up between 18,000-20k ‘steps’ on her FitBit.

So are doctors full of shît? Some are, some lie, some want the OR time and $. Ask 5 different doctors the same thing, ask them independently you will get 5 different answers

I play the mfers off of each other often when I think one is feeding me a line of crap

You’re sure right about the quantity thing but your changes have put those odds more in your favor versus before.

You’ll do well, MfM.

That's tough to do at the same time.

Every time I quit using tobacco I gained a bunch of weight.

Congratulations

This doc is a specialist the VA referred me to because I’m in a pretty rural area… he has an excellent reputation locally and several of our customers have had work done by him…I was really impressed by both him and his staff.
If I’m gonna get it done, I’d much prefer it was him than a VA doc.

If I were to drink a beer, I’d be back to square one… I also tried the cutting back thing with the cigarettes but no sooner would I get down to a few a day, a few days later I’d find myself back to a pack or more a day…did that schitt for a couple of years.

I cut carbs 7 years ago and went from 185 lb to 150 lb.

But if my daughter ever gets married, I will eat a piece of cake, drink a glass of champagne, and pay for it.
