That is very cool.
Growing up I had one of the Oscar’s cousins, a Jack Dempsey. Very aggressive like an Oscar but different color.
Seems like those would be a blast to catch and eat. I’m also interested in whether one is allowed to release them or required to kill them since they’re invasive?

Anybody ever catch a Texas Cichlid? They are the only native US fish of the same family as those oscars and supposedly have naturalized in various areas of the country. Ive never caught one although they are supposed to be found in a couple of places in CA. I have caught native cichlids in Mexico but they were a long way from CA (or Texas for that matter). Down there they call them "perch".
That Tiger Oscar is a jewel!!!! Have caught several Texas Cichlids, but we call them Rio Grande preach down here.
God bless Texas----------------------- Old 300 I will remain what i am until the day I die- A HUNTER......Sitting Bull Its not how you pick the booger.. but where you put it !! Roger V Hunter
