Had a puzzler today, just briefly, while loading some .357 test loads for my rifle. Ran off the charges and seated the bullets, then installed the Lee factory crimp die in the press. Ran them all through and noticed there was really no resistance on the handle, and the cartridges didn’t appear to be crimped at all, confirmed with the calipers. Marked the adjustment and dialed in some more crimp. Nothing. Pulled the die and there under it was the spacer ring from the seater that lets you keep the setting when switching from .38 to .357 cases. Duh!

Not a safety issue, but would've been a wasted trip to the range for testing, as I’ve already determined that crimped rounds shoot much better than uncrimped in that gun, despite the experience of some others.

What fresh Hell is this?

I had that happen once too. But, like you, I found it, before trying to shoot them.

Why do I have to press 1, for English?
