Nice score. I like your idea of the oberndorf bottom metal, change the bolt handle to a long either straight or slightly bent oberndorf tear drop bolt handle, remove the charger hump. It looks like it already has a mdl 70 style safety.
If the feed rails have been modified and the cost to repair is too high. I would leave as is if it shot ok or turn it into a 284 winchester. I like the 284 even though I have never owned one.
Good luck with your project. Heck it's still nice if you don't do anything to it.
