Another thought besides everything listed above.
Mount screw contacting barrel thread?
Aren't you set up with your loading area and shooting bench/range in the same shop?

I agree w all of the above thoughts but the way you are set up loading 3 or 4 with a flat base bullet and giving them a try seems fastest and easiest to start.

Not that exact model but a VX3i 3.5-10 erector crapped out on my 7mm RM after six months of light use. Wouldn't track. I was in a slightly different place with a known load and rifle. Cost me a 170 Muley during the season to see the issue. Was dead on a couple days prior.
I'd swap to a known good scope and see if you get anything different.

Off to Leupold and back with new erector system. My 300 win is now behaving.

Erector struggle twice for my buddy even after repair. Threw it away and I sent him a Conquest or two. Most of his buddies gave up on Leupies as well as they got into 1000 yd shooting out in Montana but they now like the evil Vortex [sp]scopes.

I had a new, custom barreled, Model 70 that just wouldn't shoot, tried all sorts of ammo varieties. Went to replace the stock, front action screw was loose, should have checked it first.
Re Leupolds, I currently have five 5HDs and dozens over the years, never had any problems but I've always been a "set it and forget it" shooter so maybe that's why I've been so lucky. Watched a video the other day, guy built a custom rifle and said that the scope should be about equal in price to the rifle, I've never had that opinion, mines about 1/3. The Leupold 5HD is my intersection of quality/value/price.

I've had plenty of problems with Leupolds over the years. LOL. Sure. Has anyone used one of these and had it go to crap??? Working on a friend's Bergara b14 HMR in 300 Winchester and can not get the thing to group. So far I have tried RL 22 and 180 ballistic tips and Sierra game Kings nothing will come together..... Well it just has to be the scope. It's the only variable left in your extensive testing. Just asking if others had an issue. I am not blaming the scope and not nearly done with testing John You're asking on the 24hr CF Optics forum if anyone has Leupold daddy issues? This is the spawning ground for all Leupold Derangment Syndrome on the entire World Wide Web. LOL. Just having a bit of fun and I hope you get things running great on that rifle soon. Odds are in your favour the scope is fine. Best of Luck.

The Leupold Homer Syndrome runs strong too. Bingo. Leupolds don’t fail. It’s probably the gun. Leupold failures only happen on the ‘fire.

There is a direct correlation between how good your rifle is and how few optics issues you have experienced. This is not brand specific. The OP has chosen to change many variables at one time. I would not go that route.

I suspect anymore - and I’m generalizing - that there are probably far more bad scope issues than there are bad gun issues.
I’m in 100% agreement about addressing one variable at a time.
