And I’ll be just fine. I like the old timey guns better anyway. My success rate is going to go down I suspect but I’m okay with that now that my daughter is the certified family freezer filler. BH209 is a great powder but at $60 bucks plus shipping for an 8 oz can is ridiculous. The stuff has always been expensive even when it was easily had but C’mon.. I don’t blame any of you for sticking with it as the clean burn alone is a huge advantage but I’m personally looking forward to going back a few generations during the hunt. Not to pretend to be someone who I’m not but to maybe connect with the hunt on a different level. I hope y’all are having a great summer! Todd

When I use the BH209 that I have I will not be using it again at that price. I'll just go back to 777.

777 is great powder and works great in the percussion gun. I just wish the crud ring wasn’t such a thing with it.

I only shoot 100-200 shots a year. Maybe a little more. I bet I have a solid 5 year supply on hand with heavy shooting. I’ll shoot a bunch this year trying to learn the flinter. I’ll be sourcing accoutrement as I go. Grafs usually has some black on hand but it’s mostly Swiss which is $31 per pound plus shipping but it is a great, high quality powder. I try to dig my lead out of the backstop and re-use it. Caps is what is hard to come by. I have a few more on hand but I count those toward snapping and drying the spark channel out. I have a couple musket nipples. I’ll get some musket caps when I find some as I think those will be more available than #11’s….

Me too, just as soon as I burn up that 5-pounder I scored just before the sky fell.

I won't ever be buying any more for $60+ a jug, either. I bought 4 jugs at $40 when stuff started drying up a couple years ago, though, so I will likely be set for ages. I generally only put 10-20 shots a year through the inline.
If I do ever run dry, I'll just be going back to 2F Swiss as well. I've still got a bit of that left from my repro Hawken and Colt Navy days.

I stumbled upon 3 of the 10oz bottles at the Walmart in Sturgeon Bay, WI a couple years ago for $30 a bottle. They're still sealed and unopened, but I did just get an in-line to try, because I had the powder. Plenty of Goex for my sidelocks, so set there. I do agree, that at the current price, I'd pass on it too. But, as always, with everything, it all comes down to what you're willing to pay to use something.

I'll be going back to 777 or Pyrodex Select when my current can of BH209 is gone.

I will be going back to std 2f BP. Both 777 and Pyrodex degrades and you are not aware of it until you find out your ML isn't shooting right

Bought few pounds of it last year and didn't find what all the rage was about. Went back to loose 777. I found it was easier to clean 777 with Dawn and hot water than to use solvents to clean "corrosion free" BH209.

I have 6 10oz bottles of BH209 that I've accumulated over the last year. I think I have enough on hand for quite awhile. I want to use it in my new Knight Mountaineer. I have about 10 lbs of Schuetzen FFg and FFFg for my Pedersoli Hawken. But my go-to for several years has been simple 777 pellets (or Pryrodex pellets). A 240 grain XTP over two 777 pellets is as simple as it gets. I use that load in my Traditions Pursuit and it will go off with either a 209 or a musket cap. I haven't found 777 pellets to be as hard to light as some people say they are. The bullet is a pretty tight fit on about the 3rd shot, but it's not an issue while out hunting. 777 pellets and in bottles is plentiful. My local Bass Pro has it all the time.

I do see a corrosion difference with bh209 very clean vs the pyro pellets but other than that I see no difference I’ve shot deer with both at 150 yds no difference in trajectory or smoke

I found 2 containers, 1 lb in the present form-factor, this evening for about $79 prior to sales tax...so I retract my previous statement.
That said, I have no intention of using it (it wouldn't light) in the SxS 12ga I picked up this week, or my Grey Hawks, or anything other that purpose-built modern, long-range, muzzleloading rifles.
I don't see anyone boycotting H4350 or RL16 because they fulfill that role in modern short action hunting rounds.

I just uncapped my last 5 lb jug. At age 64, it will last me the rest of my life, as far as hunting.
