Building a smoker would be a great scout project for next year.

600 racks though. WOW!

Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

The irony, Girl Scout’s sell cookies

I can get a 500g tank and I can get a 1000g lp tank, I hauled a 500 g back from Matagorda last summer for the local Lp guy. and he told me I could have those old tanks.

I'd like sketches if you don't mind.

I could get on this cilly phone and, call either deacons at at 3 churches and 2 missionary Baptist churches and get use of their pits and likely round up help for a cause like that. They know the Scouts have been under attack.

Could also call the associational director of the Cumberland board, he has 28 churches in our Assoc. I know I could, he preached my mama’s funeral. I still got favors.

But that’s my angle.

Lots of oil companies or services companies have huge bbq trailer type pits and cookers. I’d bet they’d be glad to loan it and maybe furnish some wood to help out. Good luck.

It might suprise you but some people can afford more than one pressure cooker for such a large project and pressure cooking is the fastest way to tender ribs.

Spread out among the scouts families in the weeks prior to the event and freeze.

If you are cooking ribs for more than 30 minutes in a pressure cooker you are do it wrong.

You may thank me later.

Yup. About 25 years ago the old man and Mrs. Tomanetz that did the cooking (chickens. Sausage, brisket) in Lexington Tx. ( way before there was a Snows BBQ) at the city meat market, had what I have. But his was about 20-30’ long. He had his sheet iron tops nailed together on 2x4’s and hinged so he could lift open the tops. he cooked for years on this arrangement

ThAt link above of that pit that fellow put together is nice. But hell he used a level and sand and bricks in the bottom. All that ain’t necessary.

I would try to incorporate several other BS supporters into cooking several racks on their property.

That old man would build a big roaring post oak fire every Saturday morning in one end of that 20’ long one and that’s all he needed. His pit was about a fancy as mine. Just longer.

White boy pits would use pellets by the way.

This was my first thought, but we don’t have a decent space to build something like that of appropriate size.

The Masons are helping sponsor the event, and they’ll be there to help as well, but I don’t think they’ve got anything remotely the size we need.

Love it.

Popcorn went to hell in a hand basket so I moved them to this and it’s taken off really well.

I actually found a couple smaller pits a local church has that we can use. I’ll be picking those up if for nothing more than to finish them in pans.

Been on the phone all afternoon and located and got access to the big rotisserie. That solves a lot of problem right there. I’ll still need a couple other smokers, but that one holds 1200-1500 pounds of meat at once. Not that many with ribs, but still a lot. It’s still going to take 2 full days to get them all done. That’s fine, but that’s a lot of cooking. It’s worth it for the kids, though.

The troop has committed to buying a chamber vacuum sealer this year. Now I need to research what size will fit a full rack of ribs. Getting that many ribs can get interesting at times as well. I worked with a local grocery store last year so hopefully it’ll work well again.

I’d add some pictures but I don’t have a hosting account.
