I have had this rifle in the safe for almost 30yrs and have never fully researched it. Can you experts on these particular rigs give me some knowledge as to what exactly I have here?
Version? original? modified in some way? etc etc

She is chambered in 300sav and appears to be a takedown model of some sort. Serial number is some near 1940 I believe.

99G with Lyman 70 LT tang sight. The LT is the target sight with the easily adjustable knurled windage and elevation knobs. The more common 70 LH has slick knobs with slots for a screwdriver. The H stands for hunter.
It's in nice shape. What is the serial # range. First 3 digits followed by 3 X's is enough to narrow it down.

Model 99 G. Rear barrel sight replaced with a slot blank. Redfield 70 LT receiver sight added. (An improvement, in my opinion.). Sling swivel studs were not standard on this model. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but based on first photo, it’s possible those are optional factory sling eyes.

(David and I typing at same time.)

In the last photo, is there open space between the forearm and barrel or is it fitted to the barrel?
