I seen a picture of hunting style mauser 98 stock with cheek piece and built in box area, anyone know who might have molded these stocks, they are not the MPI or whatever that stock is. Thanks!

Choate used to make a blind bottom m98 stock - very lightweight.

I have 3-4 of these; they were from Ramline.

Hmm, I don't recall ever seeing a blind mag stock made by Ramline. I may have missed that one. Compared to the Choate, the Ramline is a brick.

If you have a composite (not tupperware) stock that you're going to repaint, it's not a difficult conversion. You can make a box out of old Mauser bottom metal, or any mag box that will allow a decent cartridge pick up - I just did a conversion for a friend that I cast a solid epoxy mag well that finished well enough to allow the follower to travel smoothly without the use of any metal mag box; waiting to see how that works out, wear-wise . You can also use a M700, M70, or Savage ADL-type trigger guard. I've salvaged the TG from Mauser bottom metal but it's heavy compared to aluminum. Conversely, it's not hard to go from ADL to BDL so to speak.
