Understand the nostalgia. But with red dots and such, why go traditional tube? Just curious.

When I shot Jack rabbits in the desert the scope was this circle of light at dusk. Seeing under brush. And it was quick And I’m old. Lol

A scope still gives a fine aiming point.
RDS usually 2moa or bigger
Too big for target work on my Contender .22 mag at 50 yards. Consequently its back to an EER.
On the range thats mo betta.
Hunting? Maybe a 1 moa RDS. Dots aint crisp on cheaper stuff, maybe astigmatism. Hell I dunno.
Aint found a varmint red dot I like yet

I shot a Burris 1X a few times. Less mag means leas wobble seen. Stuff in focus. Least obnoxious of EER IMHO.
Have run 2x EER
Bushnell made a Trophy 2x that had an objective bell, looked nice. No longer supported. Had two, one the crosshairs rotated a little and they wouldnt fix it, sent me a RDS as replacement.
Leupold 2x is OK but aesthetics aint there. Prefer a bell objective. So my TC wears a 4x. And I aint fast with it.

Tasco had a “Pro Class” in 1x, made in Japan, that was a 30mm tube. You can spot them because they had a trophy emblem on the windage turret cap. They weren’t the “run of the mill” Tasco stuff. (In case you can’t find a Nikon).

The 1x Buckmaster was actually a shotgun scope but probably had enough eye relief to use on a pistol.

(In case you can’t find a Nikon). A buddy was the scope guy for Gun Digest. Knew scopes. There was a $1200 Tasco back in the 90s. Thanks for the info
