The household had covid all last week, only thing weird is that anything I eat vinegar based (ketchup, mustard, pickles, relish) all taste like ammonia. Anyone else get the ammonia taste thing? I guess you could say it might also taste a little like gasoline.

Yeah, it just kicked in about 2-3 days ago. Wife felt bad a week ago Friday, it hit me last Sunday. 24 hours of 100 degree fever a sleep for 22 out of 24 hours, and the fever broke. Except for the ammonia taste and fever for 24 hours, it was basically a head cold.
Feel right as rain now, except that damn ammonia taste.

Dill pickles got dull and slightly off flavor for 2 weeks. Slowly came back.

This is the 3rd time with Vid. Lost my taste and smell the 2nd time I had it in September last year. Almost a year later only regained probably 30% taste and smell back. this week back to ground zero again. but no ammonia smell.
A bowhunter at heart but a gun guy at soul. I'll take craftsmanship, wood and blue steel over plastic and composite any day.

My wife described her sense of certain tastes as “soapy” after getting covid but I imagine the ammonia taste that you’re experiencing is similar.

Mine was opposite. Flavor of everything was amplified. Pickles made my face pucker, sweet tea tasted like pure sugar etc… been 4 weeks, getting back to normal now except the coughing.

I had a metal/bile taste for about two weeks. Good bourbon couldn’t cut it either.

For me, everything tasted salty as hell. It cleared up after a couple weeks. Wife’s sense of taste is still off. Guess that explains me!

Buddy’s family got it around Dec ‘20. His wife said everything with protein, and so e other stuff, tasted like gasoline. Small woman and she lost about 20lbs. Took close to 6 months to get over it mostly, but some stuff tasted bad for a year.

I guess you could say it might also taste a little like gasoline. I have the Chinese virus a few weeks ago and got hit hard with the loss of smell and taste. No taste or smell at all other than salt (which I usually don't like, but was craving when the virus was raging). It took about a week to come back.
