Folks yard (a bit over an acre) has quite a bit of poison ivy. What do you recommend to get rid of it? I tried bleach and it killed some leaves, but it didn't last long and came back thicker.

I still use roundup, mixed heavy. It takes a couple weeks, but it will kill that stuff dead.

I have an ongoing war with it at my house. I've used regular round up, but sometimes have to go back and spray it again but it does work. They do make a stronger version specifically for poison ivy and brush that's about $5 more for the small concentrate bottle.

^^^^^This standard "weed" killers dont work well on PI, may discolor some leaves etc but not kill the plant. Use one labeled brush killer. Also dont expect overnight results, they take awhile to work.

Anything with the chemical Triclopyr will take out woody stuff and vines. I've used it to take out shoots from poplar trees and it works very well. The last time I got some it was this one from Home Depot: TRICLOPYR
If you're just doing a small area, mix 2x or more and paint it on with a brush.

Crossbow is a mixture of Triclopyr and 2-4-D so it gets other broadleafs, too.

No issues using Roundup

2 4d was invented by a scientist to kill poison ivy because of his kids allergic reactions.

My brief exploration suggests 2-4-D alone is a bit weak for ivy.

2-4D mixed with Glyphosate (Roundup) will kill it for good
But be ready to spray again next spring

Thanks fellers. I'll see what the local Lowes has available. Appreciate the suggestions.
