Just recently picked up a Kimber Montana 7mm WSM, a rifle I've been after for a while and I am curious if anyone here has one of these rifles and what bullet they've had luck with reloading. And the twist, it's an older rifle made in 06 so I'm betting 10 twist, hoping for a 9 though.

Pretty sure they are all twisted 1:9.5”. Mine has shot everything (140gr to 162gr) well honestly, not really showing any preference for certain bullets.

Mine likes 145 gr. LRX at about 3175 using Magpro.

In addition to the above suggestions and those forthcoming, listen to what stick says on this one.

Awesome thanks guys. I've got rl26, 143 hammers, 160 accubonds and some Hornady Sst, can't remeber the weight on those. Looking to pick it up next Saturday. Will give me 3 Montanas now, the 300 wsm and 25-06 shoot hammers really well, and fast.

I just found the same rifle, and will be putting a load together with 140gr TTSXs. I was pleasantly surprised to see mine has already been bedded, and free floated. No mag box binding either. I screwed on some Warne steel bases, then a NXS 2.5-10 in NF low rings. 7lb-10oz.

Chris Why don't you just measure the twist in your rifle, yourself? It's easy enough to do.

The Kimber 7mmWSM has a twist of 1 in 9.50". It is the same as the 7mm Remington Magnum. Just about all manufacturers do the same thing.

Plenty of space underneath, I could probably slide a Graham cracker through there. .885 rings.

Woulda thought BigStick would be on this like a fat kid on a cupcake.
He holds that combo in high regard.

That a 2.5-10x42? Looks great. How much space between barrel and objective? Here’s a better look with the .885 rings and 42mm objective. Seekins and Badger both offer lower alloy rings that will clear, but my cheekweld/eye alignment is perfect with the NF lows.
