I thought carrying a weapon was "insurance".

A person can get insurance poor.

I'll check to see if I'm covered under our farm liability umbrella policy.

I'm kinda up in the air about it. I think US Lawshield is about $40 bucks a month, depending on what you pick for coverage.

You add that up over time, and calculate what the odds would be of you actually using it, and I don't know if it's worth it...

Of course if you have to shoot someone, you'd wish you did have it.

I doubt it will cover anything.

I have USCCA plus my regular liability and an umbrella policy. Hope to never have to use any of them but would hate to lose everything by not having them and depending on the whims of the court system.

I wonder if a preexisting condition matters when you apply. I need me some insurance; I shot a guy yesterday.

Sadly, much depends on your local District Attorney. If you're facing a liberal DA, all the insurance in the world won't matter.

For my wife and myself the basic couple's coverage is $240.00/year.

There are additional items that you can add. We have bail/expert witness coverage at $35.00 ea/year.

Coverage is for a lawyer in the state where you plan to carry. If you are traveling out of state you can purchase temporary coverage in the states you are traveling through. I drove from Alabama to Iowa last year, and coverage for the states that I passed through cost less than $5 for the week that the trip covered.

You can also get coverage for minor children in your home, and they have hunting/fishing coverage as well.

U.S. LawShield Coverage options.

I do, too. Had it for a few years now. I think USCCA might be a tad bit better. At an in creased cost over the $16.85/mo I pay for US Law Shield, of course.

You are very welcome. U.S. LawShield also conducts seminars covering the laws in the states that they cover, and other self-defense topics. We attended one, and got to chat with one of the 3 or so lawyers associated with them here in Alabama. He gave us his personal business card along with his cell phone number, and invited us to call anytime we had questions (or needed his legal expertise).
