Great work and shooting on that guys part, but I couldn’t resist the temptation of posting this question, as many of us maybe would not have fared so well in our shooting under similar conditions.

So, you have the capacity in the Glock 9 or the ‘distance’ and power in the .44 mag, despite only 6 in the cylinder. Which do you take? This fella crushed it out of the park with the 9mm so the query is kind of pointless. But, me, under
The circumstances and how I shoot what, I think I’d choose the 629. Not sure I would have done so well as he did with the G19.

Just for fun and speculation purposes. YMMV.

And let’s say specials in 629. Or very mellow mags. HP’s.

I know I know, but you get that mid forty caliber hole and impact on a guy, one shot center mass, maybe a second one, because you can shoot it,….
Who needs 17 plus 1, or 8 hits out of 10 for that matter? I understand you can’t make an argument for less being more when it comes to ammo and self defense, but….

Combat handgun chambering needs to begin with a "4". A full size 1911 in .45 ACP, or my 6" Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt would both be good choices, if concealability or everyday carry was not a factor. I wouldn't feel terribly under-gunned with my CZ-52 in 7.62X25.

Gotcha, but I’m deliberately setting the choice to be between 6 shots or well over twice that, as much as anything else. Assuming if you were going to go with a revo and six, it would be something 40 cal up.

This isn’t 1979, reason why everyone transitioned to semiautomatic pistols

In that case Glock 20, 15+1 of 10mm with 180 or 200 gr hornady xtp.

Concealability and everyday carry is THE factor. The mall hero demonstrated that, along with his superb skill.

The Blackhawk launches bowling pins at 25 yards into low earth orbit with a gas checked 300 grain hard cast at 1300 FPS with boring regularity. One or two hits would end the fight without having to spray and pray.

I guess I just don’t feel like I shoot pistols as well/accurately as revolvers at ranges much over 30 yards. Certainly not 50. But, that could also simply be my lack of experience and practice. Curious if anyone else felt like wise.

What a pointless debate. Everybody knows the 9mm will blow the bad guys lungs right out of his body.

I see post quite often where people misunderstand the difference between spray and pray (shooting in a panic without really aiming) and suppressive fire, having the ammo capacity to pin someone down, panic them into making bad shots, duck for cover so you can maneuver, advance or retreat. Neither seems to apply to this shoot.

If I’m forced to use a pistol to fight a bad guy with a rifle and large ammunition supply at 40 yards. I’d want a pistol with excellent sights and as many bullets and quick follow up shots as possible. I’d absolutely take the Glock with good aftermarket combat sights or better yet a red dot.

I can see where in this case since the shooter was distracted and looking for other targets the good guy probably had an uninterrupted shot without being directly fired at so a scoped revolver to “snipe” the bad guy might have been ideal given this scenario but not very realistic as a carry gun and would only apply to very unlikely scenarios such as this one. Facing a bad guy with an AR especially if being directly shot at no way would I want an iron sighted revolver over a modern double stack pistol. You’re already disadvantaged enough without making it worse.

If I had a choice between a G17, G20 10mm, or an STI Staccato in 9mm.

Blind fold me and put any one of them in my hand. IDK 🤷🏽‍♀️

A wheel gun, no thanks.
