Looking at a new scope for a lightweight hunting rifle (Kimber 6.5cm). I prefer a lighter 3-9ish 40/42mm objective and want to try something besides Leupold for this one. I don’t need turrets, parallax correction, etc., on this one. I thought about trying a Swarovski Z3 but seem to find quite a few “bad” reviews on them. Then thought about the Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 - only hesitance in ordering one is that they list eye relief as 2.2-3.6 which is concerning, but other sites list it as 3.2-3.6 which would be absolutely fine. Anyone know for sure how much the eye relief changes vs magnification?

Also while looking at these thought I’d check out the Credo 3-9x40 - a bit heavier but listed eye relief as 3.5-3.7 which would be perfect.

Anyone try/use both that could provide some real world comparison (vs just on paper)?

Thanks!

While I don’t have it in front of me right now to measure, I do have a 3-9 on a 223 Kimber Montana and have not noticed any problems with eye relief.

It’s actually became my favorite scope for the Montana’s. I have a 3-9 super chicken on one and a 3.5-10 Leupold on another one. The weight is of course right in the middle and the eye relief is as good as the Leupold.

I have 2 3-9x40 of the accupower, same thing as credo with mil square. Great scope for the money. No eye relief issues.

These are a Best Buy for the quality and glass. Made in the same plant in Japan as the Zeiss v4 and night force scope’s.

i have 3-9x40 Accupoints on a .30-06 and a .308 and haven't had a problem with eye relief. I think 3-2-3.6 sounds about right. I probably wouldn't put them on a lightweight .300 magnum, but for standard calibers they're fine.

No problems with my Accupoints’ ER either. While you’re at it, look at the Credo HX 1-6. Only a 6, but I really like mine.

Not sure about the Credo 3-9 reticles, but the regular duplex in the Accupoint is perhaps the best I’ve used. The only downside is that if you’re hunting in a blind or otherwise deeply shaded overhead, the fiber optic can’t get the light it needs to show up well, and the tritium only shows when it’s pretty dark. A battery-powered model works better for such use.

Hunting under the open sky, even in pretty dim light, the Accupoint works well. Really draws your eye to the sticking spot.
