I'm in the market for a nice .380 and have it narrowed down to these two. I would appreciate any feedback on the matter. Thanx in advance

I have a SIG P238, have carried it for several years in a Galco pocket holster. Never leave home without it. Have shot it quite a bit, never stuttered. Would buy another if needed.

As I understand it, Sig is no longer making it. The Springfield 911 has some nice updated features that the Sigs lacked, but the Sigs were likely superior in fit and finish. Basic design is nearly identical, to the extent that the mags are interchangeable.

Here's my Sig P-238 with a SA 911 extended mag in it. SA-made 911 mags are half the price of Sig-made P-238 mags, so it makes sense to buy all your spare mags from SA regardless of which way you go. The mags appear to be of equal quality. Both guns have a great rep for reliability. I've never had a malfunction of any kind with my Sig P-238.

Not what the OP asked but look at the Ruger LCP. Small, lighter, no safety needed, and in my experience mine always worked.

Got one of those, too, but some folks are comforted by a manual safety on a pocket gun.

Never handled the Springfield 911, but the Sig P238 has been a great little pistol for me. Butter-smooth slide that even my wife can easily rack. Accurate. And, it has fired everything I've put through it, from day 1, without a single FTF/FTE.

I have an older Springfield EMP in 9mm which I also like. But, it is very particular about which hollow-point ammunition it'll shoot (despite several hundred rounds of break-in), and the slide has always been too stiff for my wife to get that first round chambered. Both may be non-issues with the 911, though.

That's the only thing about Sig. The price of the mags. $$$$$.

But, then again, you typically get night sights for free. At least, I think you do. Both my 365 XL's have them as standard factory equipment.

With the original LCP's DA pull weight, they're like a DA revolver and don't need one. wink
