I bought one of the Stocky's seconds carbon fiber stock for the Howa Mini Action. I like the stock, but don't care for the slick and shiny finish on it. So, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to put another finish on it? I thought about just painting it a different color and letting it go at that, but am not sure about how the paint would adhere to the stock.

I would like to piggyback on James thread with a question also.
Is there enough meat in the front end to sand out for a heavy barrel?

James, I bet you would need to stuff it up with sandpaper to get the paint to stick very well.
Drypowder.
There is some meat left in mine, but I don't think it would be enough to go to the howa mini heavy, but I may be wrong, I've never had a heavy barrel one

I’ll probably paint mine when I get it. Not crazy about the woven look. Scuff, prime, texture paint is my plan.
What fresh Hell is this?

I certainly would prefer a flat finish to the gloss finish.

I may have slow cure Cerakote put on mine, just for some more durability in the finish.

That stuff from brownells is a good tough paint too. Alumahyde or something like that. I’ve done several barreled actions and stocks with great results.

I've only done stocks but it's been really good. Order extra nozzles and clean out nozzles....they aren't very costly. There's a reason they sell extras. One note, depending on what color you want, it's hard to tell exactly the tone of the tan colors until it's on the stock. I've got one I need to put another coat on...it's just to light.

I forgot about the extra nozzles. You’re right about them selling them for a reason.

Procedure? We don’ need no stinkin’ procedure. We pray and spray… All I’ve done in the past is use overlapping applications of different shades, which has resulted in a certain amount of depth and shadow-effect. Not any sort of artist, so Pretty isn’t what I go for. Used that stone-textured stuff last time. It gives a good grip and kills glare.

How about a coat of Flex Seal ? Maybe some of the pebble grain bed liner ?
