180 grain Partition seconds on top of 70 grains of H4831. Nosler brass and Federal magnum large rifle primers. Right at 3000 fps and has taken a bunch of plains game. Impala, springbok, and kudu for bait, eland and gemsbok cows for the lodge's larder. One shot and down!
Or as the PH said, "You and that gun, seem to have reached an understanding!"
Some things just work.

The 300 H&H basically is the same case capacity as the 300 WSM

Just started fooling around with the old girl again with some of the newer powders to come along since the original work-ups. So far IMR4831 is still tough to beat with various 150s @ c.3300fps & 165s @ c.3200fps. The 165 Sierra HP Game King #2140 gets honorable mention in my rifle. RL22 was best for me with various 180s @ c.3000fps.
All loads are in '90s era WW brass with mostly Fed.215 or a few WLRM for comparison. The 215s seem best so far. ALL COLs are 3.6" or a tad longer.
FYI... The Speer #15 manual has new 300 H&H data with some of the newer RL powders.
Recently tried some RL16 with 125 Ballistic Tips. The jury is still out but groups seemed to tighten around 75gr @ 3500fps. No bad pressure yet, will continue upward when I find more bullets... or some 125 Sierra spitzers.
RL23 is showing promise with 150s @ c.3300fps.
N160 shoots a bit smaller with 155s, but velocity is lagging about 100fps behind the best IMR4831 load a little over 3200fps. These are Hornady HPBT match blems from Midsouth. Wanted to grab some of those 155 Scenars to try but it looks like I pretty much missed the boat on them this time around.
N550 is showing promise with the same 155s @ 3300fps. On the verge of pressure... more testing needed.
Still working upward with RL26... 165s & 180s. Up to 76.5gr showing promise with no undue pressure so far with 180 Solid Bases @3200fps.
A note of possible interest... The lot of RL23 I was using is gr for gr the equivalent of an outstanding old lot of IMR4350 from the last century with 180s for velocity & group size. Lower velocities so far than with RL22, but notably smaller groups. Unsure of max pressure, but it's all gone now. A quick series with the new lot of 23 is ready for the range to compare with the old lot, maybe today if I get off of this infernal mosheen & go.

I have two 300 H&H rifles I load for:
Hornady brass, 180 Partition, Fed 215 and 64.0 grs of H-4350 gives me 2925 fps out of a 26” barrel of my Remington 722.
I have another good load for my Rem 40-X, 300 H&H as well; Hornady brass, Berger 168 VLD/hunting, Fed215 and 67.0 grs of IMR-4350 which gives 3100 fps out of its 27” barrel.

I took my 300 H&H to Africa . I shot mostly 150 Partition Gold ( best hunting bullet ever) one shot kills on everything from Blue Wildebeest to Kudu. Only the kudu went more than 15 yards and that was a 400 yard shot that hit a little too far back. Went 50-75 yards.
Tried a few 168 TSX but, although they killed, resulted in game living longer and traveling further. 150 PG at 3100 was the business.

WW Super brass, Fed-215's or CCI-250's 70-72gr H-4831 to build loads with 200gr Swift A Frames and npt's and 220gr npt's.

I almost posted something yesterday about waiting until gunner posts his loads. I would have been right about the 4831 and 220's.. Guys suggesting using 300WSM load data, which works, but I'd tend to just look at H&H data, since its in all of my load manuals. With that also being said, I don't know too many guys running 220 Partitions in their short WSM's... You get this effect:
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I like RL17 and 180s. Don't remember the charge, but that is the best combo I've found in both 300 H&H and WSM. Great velocity and accuracy where I've tried it.
