IIRC Col. Cooper used to describe certain firearms that way. Here’s my entry... (Outstanding sporting goods store BTW 😎)

It makes sense if you're shooting while intoxicated and seeing double.

It makes sense if you're shooting while intoxicated and seeing double. So you just aim in the middle of ‘em 😊

Eight rounds, .22 WMR, fires one or two each time dependent upon trigger(s). The State of NY will designate it as an “assault pistol” and quickly move to outlaw them. 🤪😂

A friend purchased one of those silly things and I have had the opportunity to fire it. The trigger is pulled with both the index and middle fingers. The biggest problem I had with it was keeping my ring finger low enough on the grip so that it did not block the trigger’s travel and prevent the gun from firing. It was not a fun gun to shoot.

I looked at them, felt hard to fire, and hard to carry. Almost bought one cuz I figured they wouldn't sell good and might be worth something one day. But passed.

Cooper referred to the double action auto pistol as that. I respect Cooper and have 1911s, but like my XDMs and my Sig P220 too.

Yeah, I definitely see the use of a well designed, traditional, double action auto, so long as you view the first double action pull as a bad breath range resort. Any more advanced warning than that, and you should manually cock the hammer. Most people (other than the most dedicated) are never going to master the trigger pull transition to the point where they should use that feature if they have any advanced warning at all.

I guess, from a historical perspective, it's not much different than a Mossberg Brownie or a Sharps Pepperbox, but those weren't good ideas, either.
Just recycling bad ideas does not a great company make. The whole fact that people are actually considering buying these toys, says a lot about our society right now, and it ain't good.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.
