I saw some magpro at a gun shop today, so I bought it. Anyone use it with 130, 140, and 150 grain bullets?

There's a good bit of pressure-tested .270 Win/Magpro data in the Western Powders online manual.

Looks like it offers velocities on par with the old standby, H4831 - maybe a touch better.
I have a lot of Magpro but have not tried it myself in the .270 Win.

Worked great for me in an M70 with the 130 Speer Grand Slam and Nosler Partition.

Magpro is a powder that is commonly available at the more well-known on-line retailers. Supply and demand..... me thinks there is not much demand for it.... why is that? Seems to have good velocity numbers in the manuals that I have seen it listed.

I was going to buy some a few months back but then my old standby powders started showing up (Hunter, RL16, Norma URP, IMR4831) ..... hell I even got lucky and scored some RL26.

Is Magpro undiscovered or are there problems with it?

I had surprisingly good results with it. Accuracy and velocity were good for me. I'll have to check my data and see if I shot any in my M700s, but I was happy enough with it a few years ago I bought a few more pounds.

I bought two pounds of it back in August. I just got done loading some 140 gr. Berger VLD’s with it. If the weather holds out, I’m doing a ladder test tomorrow with it.

Looking forward to hearing the results on this. The .270 is one of the chamberings I plan to work with in the "off-season" after this fall's hunts have passed. I have a couple new rifles in the queue for this fall, but next year may break out some old (1950's) .270's that have been gathering dust.

Magpro gives very good velocity in my .270 WSM (140 Nosler Accubonds at 3200 is easy) but it is not particularly temperature stable. H4831 is much better in that regard.

Sings in my .M70 270 WSM - no probs at all

Well, I went to the range today, but the .270 stayed at home. I tested some loads in my 6.5 CM, .260 Rem., and .338 WM instead. After a ladder test with A4350 and 210 gr. Barnes TTSX, I’m hoping I have a new load for bear hunting come spring. The A4350 has been horrible in everything else I tried, but the .338 gave me good velocities and accuracy in that rifle.

I loaded some magpro in my 270 with 130 grain partitions. The accuracy was really bad to say the least. I didn't chronograph those loads. I'm going to try it next with 150 grain speer bullets.

I don't have speeds to share but Magpro seems to work pretty well with 130's and 150's for me. Accuracy got better with more powder. Starting loads grouped poorly.

I have a sub MOA load with Magpro and 140 Berger VLDs in my .270 Win. I’m loading some Magpro and 145 ELD-X’s to test in my 270 WSM soon. I’m waiting on some new Talley lightweight mounts to come in to mount a new scope on it, as I’m pretty sure the old Bushnell Elite 3200 crapped out that is currently on it. I’ll dig up my notes and post my velocities and charge weight for the .270 Win tomorrow for you.

I loaded up to one grain under max.

I just got my loading log and I settled on 60.1 gr Magpro behind the 140 Berger VLD. My average velocities were 2845 fps from a 22” Barrel on a Ruger American.

I tried it in two 270Win rifles, a Win XPR and a Rem 783 with poor accuracy in both. How close to RS Magnum is MagPro? The RS data seems very close for both.
