Maybe one of you got it. I saw this one tried to buy it yesterday, engraved 99 30-30.

That’s a Spiegel gun, roll stamped not engraved.

I kinda thought that was what is was. I just don’t remember seeing one in 30-30, but then again I forget a lot more than I remember.

Why people use GI to sell is beyond me.

So any concerns on that rifle?

What price did they have on it on GI?

No stud on buttstock. Spiegels should have a stud on forearm and buttstock.




Forearm is a bonus though, looks like it as an RS stud.

Kurt tipped me off and when I called the girl that answered said, “what department do you want?”. I said I was interested in a Savage 99. She asked if it was the 30-30. I said yes. She said it was sold. That was about noon Eastern time. I was going to put it on the card and drive up and get it. About 100 miles from me.

She was a very nice lady.

What is the gun? Looks to be a Spiegel in 30-30, forearm with swapped stud, replaced buttstock likely.

These Spiegel's came in a number of configurations.
This one is roll stamped therefore, Spiegel.
Otherwise, some had studs, some didn't, some had checking, some didn't, I think some had the pistol grip checked but not the forearm, some B&M drilled, some didn't, etc. Probably some other bizarre configurations as well.
This rifle "could" have had the front stud at factory, or added at some point. Can't see the underside of the stock, is there a stud hole? or patched hole? or just made as Spiegel without rear stud?
Don't whether or not all numbers match.
30-30 EG at a good price.

From what we've found, all Spiegels have the studs and all that we know of have the target block bases holes.

At least what we call Spiegels. It's quite likely that Spiegel sold some stock EG's with no modifications before or after the "Spiegel EGs", but I wouldn't call those Spiegel EG's.

Any of you guys have a Spiegel with the target blocks and scope still on it?

Whoever mounted the straight tubed scope on this one got it ass-backwards. The windage/elevation mount goes on the rear of the scope.

It was just stuck on there for looks and I think you are the first to notice that it is backwards.
