According to investigators in Iowa, Kayla Bergom faces charges of sexual misconduct with an offender while she worked at the Tama County Jail. KCRG reports that Bergom is accused of sexual activity with an inmate in a utility closet and in the recreation yard area of the jail on multiple occasions. According to court documents, the two participated in such acts between September 2020 and April 2021, with Bergom facing three counts of sexual misconduct. Authorities say their investigation started after a county employee informed them of the possible misconduct.

Putting female officers in contact with male prisoners or vice versa is stupid. These folks are not getting locked up for singing too loud in church. And quite a few (not all) COs aren't exactly the cream of law enforcement.
They ought to quit calling our prisons correction centers. They seldom correct anything.

Once that line is crossed, both are open to blackmail by either party. The relationship opens the door to coercion because it's in a controlled setting.

One of the cutest girls I went to school with got caught doing the same thing. Pretty much fugged up the rest of her life. Last time I saw her she looked like 40 miles of bad road.
