Turtle rescue 911
Jim;
Good evening again my cyber friend, thanks again for the photos.
It seems that tonight it's falling upon my shoulders to warn my fellow 'Fire folks of impending danger.
While I'm no turtle expert by any stretch Jim, I too once did the same thing that your son is in the photo.
My experience however would have yielded a different photo.
The day started out as usual with me commuting to work and as I passed by a known turtle pond at the edge of the city I worked in, there on a concrete curb I spied a rather large example of a local red eared turtle attempting to get up onto the sidewalk.
Being a thoughtful sort, I decided it best to pick it up and return it to the pond side, you know where it'd be safe and sound with all it's turtle buddies...
Two things immediately sprang to mind Jim, the first being I didn't know turtles made any sounds but my goodness did this one have a healthy and vigorous hiss!!!
Secondly and more important to the point of my story, I didn't realize that a turtle could possibly contain that much turtle pee or that it could have that much pressure! However it did and they apparently do Jim....
Perhaps let your son know this little known tidbit and he can then prevent himself from having to carry on with the rest of his day with turtle pee on his clothes.
All the best and thanks again for the photos.
Dwayne
