This time it was Custer State Parkin South Dakota. The article says she and her friend gave the buff 100 yards or so distance. Wifey and I spent several days there in 2017. We basically fell in love with the place. Saw plenty of critters, including Buffalo there and at Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. Stayed alert and gave them space, and had no problems. It happened June 16 according to another article. Her friend said they 1st saw the buffalo were on a hill at least 100 yds away. They were trying to avoid them when the bull ran down the hill toward them. It stopped very close to them for a moment and then attacked. This one might not be so much an idiot tourist but rather a dangerous animal demonstrating why they're called a dangerous animal.

Walking a dog that resembles a wolf probably had nothing to do with it... they decided to not turn back when seeing the herd, advanced and tried to skirt it.
Closest encounter I had was at Roosevelt, big bull probably 35 yards away. He ignored me, I was studying concretion cannonballs, and kept one eye on that buff, and consciously kept a big assed boulder handy should he approach. He finally wondered out the path to the parking lot and headed across the road. If this bull came after these girls from 100 yards, it sounds like he had an attitude problem. That bull walked through that cloud of (I assume) pepper or bear spay without so much as a shrug! It pays to be aware of your surroundings, be it a Park with wild critters or a crowd of people. A little common sense and foresight goes a helluva long way, in all sorts of situations. 7mm
