I have rigged a M&P 10mm with RMR and Streamlight TLR 8 for a truck gun ….. this is my first light laser combo and very impressed except for the light be switched inadvertently and chewing batteries. This model is side switched . Does the rear push switch option eliminate this problem . Weapon is handy and unseen in the side pocket of my Chevy center console , always ready and quick with no holster .

There’s the problem.

TWR , thanks for your response

Basically this is the “nightstand” firearm when I am in my truck whether dealing with varmits or protecting my labs or even private property . I do have a EDC holstered but do not like the larger bulk for concealed carry .
It just surprised me the ease this light was activated and drained the battery…. Has others experienced this and maybe a different light or switch works better?

Thank you in advance .

I saw a holster screwed to the plastic on a 4 wheeler the other day. Gave me thought on mounting one similar in the truck.

As for lights, most all the switches I’ve seen can be inadvertently triggered if left loose. Heck I’ve even bumped my handheld light on in my pocket before.

Handgun WMLs are designed for use with a holster so as to not inadvertently trigger the light. Just as the holster protects the trigger from being activated, it does the same with the light. These lights are designed to be easily activated when outside of that protection or encapsulation.

Plenty of ways to rig a holster in your truck without making it janky and not up to par if you so choose. Some companies like Dara even make dedicated vehicle holster mounting options.
