I was the perverbial retard in a room full of bouncy balls yesterday.
I left town after lunch, stopping only for gas. By 1700, I was sitting in my chair on the front porch of camp.
My buddy, Blacksmith, from the next holler over came by with my birthday presents:
25 rounds of .735 lead balls for the Brown Bess
A scrap of sheet lead
A large lead weight that looks suspiciously like it might have been an artillery round. More on that later.
We sat and jawed until Moose showed up. We then drove into Falmouth for pizza.
On the way back last night, we must have seen close to a hundred deer out feeding.
This was my first visit to the farm since 24 April. I was too sick with the cancer to finish up turkey season. I started Chemo on 2 May. I still had all my turkey gear laid out on the bed.
I plan on watching the sunrise this AM from the Thoughful Spot. After that, we're going to the diner in Brooksville. I frequently dream about the food there.
They have great omelets. I like the goetta.
Moose and Angus are planning a campout with MooseWoman and her kids. Blacksmith is joining the Hysterical Society for brunch. I plan of going back to the porch and sitting, trying to see how many naps I can fit into the rest of the day.
Gentlemen: If all goes to plan, I'll make it home Saturday for the Bengals Opener. Should that come to pass without a serious hitch, I think we can call this shamanic saga at an end.

Glad you’re doing good Shaman. I went deer hunting down by Falmouth almost 40 years ago. My brother and I were invited down by my Dad’s insurance agent. Didn’t kill a deer, but had a great time.
