Never a bad choice find the correct ammo what likes and off to the races. At the very least it'll be a great tool to learn with

Just curious. Why are all the Remington bolts not allowed?

BSA shoots his savage lights out. I like the 457 MTR I bought. It shoots better than I can at the moment. Really enjoying punching paper with the bolt 22lr. My guess is you will also with what ever you choose.
I used to only shoot shotguns and rimfires, then I made the mistake of getting a subscription to handloader.......

My great nephew was given a CZ (by grandparents) to shoot in his high school competition. 4-H I think. What is the best ammo? Does a .22 RF require regular scrubbing of the bore to remain accurate?

My CZ like SK ammo, and yes you need to clean them. If you build the carbon ring in front of the chamber, it will swedge the bullet small enough to get thru it. Lead is dead and unless the the muzzle is tighter than the carbon ring, the rifle will not shoot as well as you would hope. I clean mine after every relay I shoot. With a CZ it has a tighter than normal bore and I have to use a 20 caliber rod to clean it with. A 22 caliber rod does not fit down the bore very well. I use Pro Shot 20 caliber rods, and 3/4 inch patches on a 22 caliber jag. 1 inch patches is too tight to get down the bore. 1 wet patch with Hoppes #9, brass brush (about 5 or 6 strokes), another couple of wet patches and 2 dry patches is my cleaning process.

A pal's CZ MTR really likes the Lapua Midas+ as does the MTR of another member at our range. FWIW

I have not tried the Midas+ in mine but have tried 2 different lots of CenterX. I think I have a box or 2 of Midas+, may have to try it and see.
