Hadn’t heard of cornhole until I got to GTMO and the MWR folks decided to advertise a cornhole tournament. I really didn’t want to go to a cornhole tournament in a detention facility until I learned it was a game. Even then I was a bit skeptical.

First time I heard of it, I thought the same thing. When I was a young fellow, cornhole was NOT something you wanted to be participating in..........let alone ANNOUNCING you intended to do it competitively.

Went to family reunion several years ago, and someone had brought a cornhole set. I said that the meaning of cornhole must have changed since I was growing up, and the younger folks looked at me and said "huh". They had no idea what it once meant, and I suspect that whoever invented the game didn't know either.

Have seen some pro tournaments on TV. Very serious stuff with custom bags skiding on one side and near gluing down on the other. Some are capable of scoring 18 or 19 out of 20 in a row. Some considerable strategy involved if the target gets cluttered.
