The sickness continues. Added a fourth 99 to my meager collection. 99F mid 1950's I believe. No holes drilled for sling. No tang crack. Came with Weaver bases. Best of all it is a .250-3000. Should make a fine deer rifle.

Nice. From what I can see it looks like a late 50s F.

99F's in 250-3000 aren't common, and are very collectible. Nice snag!

That one looks to be in nice honest condition. I'd be really surprised if you don't fall in love with it. There is NO vaccine for this fever. laugh laugh

The first three of the serial # is 767 looks like 1955-56. I have looked at the boss code and it looks like 23G 1955. I am developing a load with Speer's good 87 grain Hot Cor. Should work out very nicely.

Very nice. The last few I've seen had extra holes, sloppily refinished wood, etc. frown

767,xxx should be 1955. The 99F (Version 2 Style 1) was introduced in the Jan 1955 pricelist as being available in 250-3000 and 300 Savage, these early ones all have a receiver serial number in the 7xx,xxx and they won't handle the longer 243/308/358 cartridges. Style 2 came out at the end of 1955 with a redesigned interior that made room for longer cartridges, and these all have serial numbers of 9xx,xxx.

It is detail like this that makes this site so much fun to be part of.
