Model 42. My Great Grandpa cut the stock for my dad and so it went. Dad started taking me pheasant hunting at 7 or 8. It it wasn’t the easiest to hit with but if you were on them it did the job.

Remington Nylon 66 was my dream rifle when I was about eight years old. I’d stare at them behind the gun counter at K-Mart while my mom shopped. At that age it looked like a big game rifle to me and I daydreamed about all of the rabbits, squirrels, starlings and other vermin that I’d hunt with it. My Uncle bought me a Ruger 10/22 when I was nine or 10 but it didn’t in look like what I thought a hunting rifle should be. No diamond in the forend. lol

And plenty of ammo too. There were no Resource Officers in our School System at that time. I know your only a couple of years younger than me. Guess things were quite different in Maine, than in TX back then.

Grandpa's rim fire .22 bolt action with the tube magazine. His initials carved into the stock. Shoots straighter than a preacher's dick and it'll put yer eye out at 100 yards with open sights

Things sure have changed a lot in New York since then. Stinkin rotten Democrats have fugged this whole state up.

Used to disassemble and reassemble guns to refinish stocks in wood shop for friends and certain teachers that were cool. Everyone had long guns in the gunracks in the parking lot during hunting season. Fired the pistol the day after I got it finished about 8 or 9 times during wood shop class with the shop teacher and asst principle. We used to get up to 2 weeks off to deer hunt as long as parents wrote a note and we students did the work ahead of time. The teachers hated that schit cause they had to do their part ahead of time also. It was easier just to skip school for a 4 day weekend and just know what ya had to do grade wise after to make up the diff. Went to Old Town high school 77- 81

My first gun was a model 70A 06. It took me a year of pumping gas and then 6 months to buy a Redfield scope. Early 70,s. That gun has killed alot of deer and a few goats. It,s now a safe queen I will never sell it. Still has scars from when I broke the butt slipping on scree in Idaho. It occasionally goes to range for nostalgia.
If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer or elk but how he hunted it.

Remington 514 single shot .22 that my dad gave me when I was 10 years old. I took my first squirrel with it. My son took his first squirrel with it. Hopefully his boy will as well.

When I was 13 mama put me on a Greyhound bus to NC with a Remington speedmaster 552 and a Savage 20/22 o/u broke down in my suitcase.
Learned a few valuable lessons on that tripe.
1. Never ride a greyhound bus. Ever. Took 13 hours to go from Nashville to Asheville 2. Gypsies are real and walking pieces of shît 3. First experience with homeless scum in Knoxville bus station, 3 hour lay over.

My favorite rifle from way back when is an 1894 Winchester carbine that belonged to my Great grandfather. I took my first deer with it one labor Day weekend 1949. I was eleven years old.
For handguns, it's more or less a tie between the Colt single action and the Colt 1911/1911A1. PJ
Our forefathers did not politely protest the British. They did not vote them out of office, nor did they impeach the king, march on the capitol or ask permission for their rights. ----------------They just shot them. MOLON LABE
