Very nice choice there. I came close to getting a repro Uberti 76 in 45-60 last year, but I was looking for a 22" carbine, and all anyone had were the full length 28 inchers. Ended up getting an 1873 20" SR in 45 Colt instead.
Holy grail rifle? Not me. Over the years I have owned more rifles than I could possibly recall And I liked a bunch of them but I always grew bored with any given rifle after a while and Eventually sold it and I have Not really regretted letting any of them go.....Hb
Fairly much the same for me. Even though there is a bunch of stuff out there that I admire, I don’t tend to lust after stuff outta my reach $ wise (or priced beyond what I believe is reasonable).
This thread got me to thinking about holy grail firearms and I realized that I owned every one that I had fantasized about. Some were as good as I had hoped, others were disappointing but then there was always the next one that would be the perfect one. What really hit home is that I no longer have a desire for a holy grail firearm, I am satisfied with what I currently have. Hopefully this is just a passing thing but at my age I suspect that I am done searching for the holy grail and am satisfied to use the ones I acquired on the way to this part of my life. It is a feeling that is both sad and satisfying.

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

I had an Artillery Luger years ago given to me by my “step” father in law. He got to missing it and used family pressure after six months to get it back. Screw him.
You only live once, but...if you do it right, once is enough.
Any of the other three Savage 1920s that RCA took on his 3rd Expedition into Mongolia, numbers 5575, 5742, and 5747 or the Savage 1899 250-3000 rifle that he carried previously would be okay too.
I have one of Larry Koller's Savage 1920s, #15xx, so I got that covered.
Elmer Keith's 1st Model Newton in 256 Newton would be nice to own too. He included the serial number in "Hell, I Was There!", but I don't remember what it was and would have to look it up.
