I am ashamed to admit it, but I missed a deer yesterday. She fed on acorns for about 15 min zig-zaging anywhere from 30 to 20 yards from me. I was hoping she would come a little closer, but it was getting dark and she looked like she was moving away for the last time. So I took a quartering away shot at ~22yds. I rushed it and pulled left. Since the deer was quartered to the right, the arrow went just over her back. I hunt with a longbow, and didn't feel 100% about the senerio. I shouldn't have taken the shot, but I let Doe fever get the best of me.
Good news is it was a clean miss. Bad news is no fried backstrap tonight.

Don't feel bad Spencer, I too share your pain. The archery opener I too got some doe fever, missed a broadside shot at about 20 yards. I hunt with a recurve, and when I drew back I didn't release fast enough, which screwed up my shot and sent the arrow whizzing over the deer's neck/back. Oh well.

Don't feel too bad. I got so wrapped up taking pictures of two does with my cell phone last week that I let them get too close to me to get off a shot without getting busted.
I didn't understand a word you said, but whatever it was I'm right there with you.
