What is everyone’s preferred powder for the 260 Rem pushing the 125 gr partition? Doing some deer season loading for my uncle and just curious what to start with. Thanks in advance!

I would probably start with H4831 or W760/414. H4350, N560 and 7828ssc have also produced good accuracy.

Good luck and shoot straight y'all

I primarily shoot 120 gr Sierra Pro Hunter, have tried several powders in the 20+ I have been loading for it and always come back to Varget for accuracy. Close second and third N150, SW Precision.

ymmv

I always shot H4350 with 130's, so I'd likely go that route with 125's. Likely anything with that approximate burn rate should be good.

I have a Ruger M77 MK II that I am currently working up a load for. I am using the 129 SST. R19 gave me good speed, bit 2-2.5 accuracy at 100 yards. I then tried Ramshot Big Game and really liked it. ES was between 4 and 9, accuracy an inch at 100 yards. Didn't have quite the speed the R19 had, but hard to argue with consistency. R19 was in the 2875 range, Big Game was in the 2700 range. Figure a 129 sst at MV of 2700 will work well for me!

Dont forget R-15, IMR 4064 and Varget, all have served me well over several years and several 260s and 260AIs.

Anything from Varget to RL-19 will work well.

Haven't found anything in that burn range that won't shoot well - but it's a T3 smirk

The Sierra 120gr PH is all my daughter has ever shot in her .260's. Her model 700 loves H4350 and her previous Model 7 shot really good with IMR4320.

mainly 4064 at my place...

I do IMR 4350 for the 140 grainers when I load them... everything else 4064.

30 grains of 4198 for light short range loads...

As others have said 4350’s (though I used quite a bit of Accurate 4350) H4831SC, and I’ve dabbled with RL19, 16, and StaBALL 6.5 in it. Best load was with RL19 and 123 ELD-Ms but I didn’t write my COAL down at that time and never got it to repeat before running out of RL19.

Varget for 100's, H4350 for 120's and H4813sc for the 140's. If it was me, I'd start with H4350 and also run some 4813sc given that there is a little more contact surface with the partition than the NBT as an an example. To the OP, the 120 nosler BT is an excellent bullet for deer shooting. We use it for red deer and below here in Australia. At around 3,000fps, it is a great projectile.

I'm using H4831 with 129 gr Interlocks and SSTs in my 260. It is plenty accurate for me out to 400 yards. My only complaint is the load pops out the bolt release pin and causes the recoil buffer to override the stop pin in my LR-260. The bolt gun loves the load.
